Alcove Bath
An alcove bathtub is enclosed by walls on three sides with only one entry. Integral or removable skirt is necessary to complete a three-wall alcove installation. Front skirt access is important when a motor is involved (whirlpool, air bath or heated soaking tub). With most integrated skirts there are access panels built right in. When a front skirt option is choosen, the entire front skirt may be removable. Most alcove baths have the option of a right or left drain. Some will have an integrated tile flange or the option of installing a flange to prevent water from getting between the bath and the wall.
Drop-in Bath
A drop-in bath is designed to drop into a custom deck or directly into the floor. The bath sits on the floor and has a self-rimming edge that overlaps a tile or solid surface waterproof deck. A drop-in tub offers many creative installation choices. They can be installed in corners, niches or even islands for a free-standing look.
